Encouraged by his father, Brendon Ang first took up bowling when he was only seven in 2016. The sport has since become a cornerstone in his life. Now, Brandon, 16, is thankful for the cherished guidance and wise counsel of his trusted coach, Coach Remy, who has empowered him to grow. He shares how he navigates challenges in the game. Brendon’s tenacity, and indomitable spirit paid off. He emerged third, and received the $150 House Award for having attained 744 pinfalls for the first three games (700 series) on 29 September 2024.

Encouraged by his father, Brendon first took up bowling when he was only seven in 2016. The sport has since become a cornerstone in his life.

“Bowling builds both my physical and mental strength. I also learn about teamwork and camaraderie at team events,” Brendon said.

 

Navigating the Challenges

Bowling, like any sport, has its challenges for Brendon to overcome. Notwithstanding the challenges that test his mental resilience, he maintains his composure under pressure while working towards attainable objectives.

Brandon is thankful for the cherished guidance and wise counsel of his trusted coach, Coach Remy, who has empowered him to grow.

“Over the span of nine years, I have been working closely with Coach Remy. I heeded the advice he gave me, and practised diligently. I did not stop learning even after a win,” he said.

 

Attaining the House Award

Brendon’s persistence paid off. He emerged third, and received the $150 House Award for having attained 744 pinfalls for the first three games (700 series) on 29 September 2024.

“Winning the House Award was incredible. It was a moment of pride, and I was thrilled to see that all my hard work had paid off,” Brendon said.

That said, he is not resting on his laurels. Brendon continues to prioritise growth and excellence in the sport, as he looks forward to honing the proficiency of his bowling skills.

“Winning competitions and improving my skills motivate me to keep on bowling,” Brendon said.

Brendon encourages others to try bowling at the NSRCC.

“Bowling is a fantastic activity for everyone, regardless of one’s age or skills, to stay active. It's an enjoyable and social way to spend time with friends, family, or even colleagues.
